Let me start off by saying I met the wonderful Dr. Arien J. Smith after being involved in an MVA, which left me paralyzed and airlifted. I was in deep trouble with my condition (L1–L5 lumbar fractures), complete burst fractures essentially. The spinal fragments were getting wedged in my canal and pressing on the cord itself. Dr. Smith went in like a divine, angelic, God-sent being and, like a game of Operation, meticulously put the pieces back together by cleaning out the damaged bone fragments and installing a structure known as a V-Tech Cage in order to sustain my lumbar spine. He is the best on Earth, and if it wasn’t for him, I would have lost my life, devastating my 8-year-old child, who was only 2 at the time.

Thank you, Dr. Smith, for saving me and seeing my resilience. This man is extremely perceptive and intuitive and is ordained and blessed by God to heal the sick. I would not have wanted any other person to operate on me because what he did is still shocking to me; I am still processing it all. If you have any spinal, brain, or any sort of injury like that, I highly recommend Dr. Arien J. Smith. While other neurosurgeons may never get to the root of the problem, I promise you Dr. Smith will find a way to make your SCI livable and manageable. I will be returning once a year just to talk to him and for checkups/physicals. He is the best surgeon, hands down. I can’t thank you enough!
